Abstract

ABSTRACT The calculus reform movement has focused primarily on the standard courses for mathematics, science, and engineering majors. However, many of the recommendations for change arising from this movement are even more appropriate for courses in the non-science client disciplines. In this paper, the author compares recent experiences in two such courses, one using a traditional business calculus text and one using materials developed by the Calculus Consortium based at Harvard. * Based on a presentation given at the Conference on the Teaching of Calculus held at Harvard University on 12–13 June 1992.
