Abstract
Inelastic scattering of an incident electron in an EM can cause the physical disintegration of the specimen. Of all inelastic collisions, an ionizing collision generally leads to molecular dissociation (except maybe in the case of aromatic molecules). Here we outline a method developed to estimate the ionization cross sections of small molecules.
