Abstract

Dose equivalents in a forward direction due to electrons and photons behind shielding materials are calculated for beam energies between 10 and 10,000 MeV using the Monte Carlo program EGS4. Shielding materials are ordinary concrete, lead and ordinary concrete behind lead. These shielding materials are set behind an iron target. Two different configurations of the target geometry are used. From the calculated results, simple formulae are deduced to facilitate dose calculation
