Abstract

Based on the high‐resolution spectral estimation method developed in modern signal processing, a postprocessing method is proposed to analyze the data series, which are generated by the iterations of the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method used to calculate the energy bands of two‐dimensional (2D) phononic crystals. Numerical simulation results show that, compared with the postprocessing method based on Fourier transform, the new postprocessing method can reduce the number of iterations of the FDTD method significantly while giving accurate estimation for the eigenfrequencies of the 2D phononic crystal at the same time.
