Abstract
In the present study, a unique method for calculating solidification sequence and related thermophysical properties in the non-equilibrium state is explained. It is well known that accurate thermophysical properties of the aluminium casting alloys are necessary for the valid simulation of the casting processes. There have been a number of thermophysical calculation programmes; however, the programmes require specific knowledge of the thermodynamics. The calculation method proposed in the present study does not require any special knowledge of thermodynamics but only information on the compositions of the alloy. The proposed calculation tool was based on the CALPHAD approach for modelling multicomponent alloys.
