Abstract

According to the basic principle of the model all adsorbed molecules, except ones adsorbed in the primary layer, are in a fast lateral and vertical movement. Type II isotherms can be explained, and accurately described by this idea. The model also takes into account the heterogeneity of the adsorbents. The specific surface area can be calculated using the assumption that the monolayer and multilayer adsorptions may be separated from one another with an equilibrium pressure pr,e. The calculated surface is independent of the nature of the adsorptives if the pr,e values are attributed to point B on type II isotherms.
