Abstract

A calculation is made of the transition of γ radiation across a two-layer barrier when the thickness of the second layer is small, In this case its effect can be treated as a perturbation. By means of some transformations the integral term is excluded. This allows us to find in analytic form the relation between the γ radiation flux (which is differential with respect to angles and energies) behind the two-layer barrier, and the unperturbed flux behind the first layer. The formula thus obtained was used to calculate the dosage pile-up factor behind a two-layer lead-water barrier. The results of the calculation agree satisfactorily with literature data.
