Abstract

In order to obtain the mathematical expressions for determining the power required to drive rod-processing granulators, while they were being designed at the Ukrainian Scientific Research Institute of Plastics Machinery studies of the process of granulating high-density polystyrene, polypropylene, polyethylene, and other materials were carried out. These studies were done in an experimental facility based on a CHP 90 x 30 single-screw press and a rod-processing granulator with a throughput of 250 kg/h. The mathematical expressions shown were used to develop an engineering approach to the designing of granulators.
