Abstract

An analysis is made to clarify why Allan and Betts and Katsura and Horiguchi could give the correct isothermal perpendicular susceptibility of the Ising model and the XY model, respectively, with the aid of the Kubo formula and some limiting procedure. A comparison is made with the similar situation in the calculation of the two-time correlation function with the use of the two-time Green function. The discussion includes the calculation of the isothermal susceptibility for the ideal spin-wave approximation of a ferromagnet.
