Abstract

For pt.II see ibid., vol.9, no.3, p.517 (1979). The electrical resistivity of liquid Gd is calculated in a single-site scattering approach including the (sf)-exchange interaction. Using exchange function published for solid Gd the authors find-from a phase-shift calculation, as well as in Born approximation-that the effective contribution of magnetic scattering should not exceed the value of about 12 mu Omega cm. This is much less than the usual estimate for solid Gd at room temperature and agrees well with experiment.
