Abstract

A modified quasi-stationary equation for drying kinetics has been used to develop a method allowing calculation of the effective diffusion coefficient and tracing its variation with drying time. The method has been validated with experimental drying kinetics for wheat dried in a two-dimensional spouted bed, and with literature data on drying of tobacco lamina in a fixed bed, and on sliced celery in a pulsed fluid bed. #© Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Canada, as represented by the Minister of Natural Resources, 2004.
