Abstract

The graphical method for the calculation of stability constants of mononuclear complexes by the cation-exchange method has been modified and extended to include systems such as M3+–A– or M4+–A–, where two or three cationic complex species respectively would be sorbed by the exchange material. New functions have been derived for this purpose. The method has been applied to trivalent lanthanides with salicyclic acid. The stability constants were determined at 0.25M-NaClO4 in 50%(v/v) acetone–water.
