Abstract

Calculation of the combustion of a detonating mixture near the first ignition limit. It has been possible to quantitatively describe the combustion of a 2H/sub 2/ + O/sub 2/ mixture in the kinetic chain-termination region on the basis of the known reaction mechanism only at initial pressures P/sub 0/ several times greater than the pressure at the first ignition limit P/sub 1/. By using this method the following equation for the final extent of conversion nf was obtained: P/sub 0/..beta..((1 - nf - 1) = P/sub 1/(..beta.. + 1)(1 - nf)/sup ..beta../ - 1). Differences in valves under similar combustion conditions are caused by contact between the active centers in the rarefied flame and foreign substances such as vacuum grease together with vapors of the washing liquids, acids, ethers, etc. 1 figure.
