Abstract
1. The virial-statistical method was used to calculate the heat of formation of the cis- and trans-β-chlorovinylmercury chlorides and the heat of acetylene elimination. 2. The different chemical properties of the stereoisomers are explained by the difference in the heats of the acetylene elimination reaction.
