Abstract

This paper helps to find out the minimum capacitance required for self-excitation of an isolated three-phase self-excited induction generator (SEIG) using Adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization (APSO) technique. APSO technique has been used to solve the non-linear equations and capacitance calculation has been done under various conditions like loading, change in rotor speed. The results obtained using APSO technique has been compared with that obtained from steady-state model.
