Abstract

The problem of ensuring the electromagnetic safety of service personnel manifests itself the most seriously in cable tunnels, where the distances between cables with high current loads and the human being is minimal. A computation technique by means of which the magnetic fields of a large number of single-phase cables may be calculated with one- and two-sided grounding of the screens with acceptable precision is proposed. Results of calculations of the magnetic fields produced by 42 cables with high current loads laid in a typical cable tunnel are presented. An analysis of the results is performed and ways of decreasing the strength of a magnetic fields are proposed.
