Abstract

In electric field generated by ultra high voltage overhead lines, electric charges are induced at surface of human body. These electric charges alter electric field of human body and adjoining space. In order to study the influence of human body, a human body model is placed under ultra high voltage overhead lines and electric field produced by the overhead lines is calculated. Charge simulation method is used. Complicated human body is simplified as an axi-symmetrical structure. Two cross section shapes are selected and typical human dimensions are adopted. Electric field is calculated. The results show that existence of human body have great influence on electric field at surface of human body and few influence on that outside of human body. At standout positions of human body, such as top of head, side of head and edge of shoulder, etc. electric field is greatly enhanced. At other positions on human body, electric field is lower. From viewpoint of human safety, actual distribution of electric field on surface of human body needs to be considered. More attentions should be paid to electric field suffered at positions of head and shoulder.
