Abstract

We present the theoretical formalism required to interpret the electron-photon coincidence measurements of the helium $4F$ state by Cvejanovi\ifmmode \acute{c}\else \'{c}\fi{} and Crowe [Phys. Rev. Lett. 80, 3033 (1998)]. The results of the convergent close-coupling theory are compared with experiment and found to be in good qualitative agreement. We demonstrate that the singlet-triplet mixing in the $4F$ states does not affect the calculated results significantly.
