Abstract

The results of calculations for the attenuation of the giant-resonance neutron spectra produced at an electron accelerator in various shielding materials are presented. As the spectra are similar to those of some radioactive sources, a comparison is made with Cf and Am-Be sources. Considering all the changes that have occurred in recent years regarding the quantities to be used in radiation protection, the results are expressed in terms of dose equivalent index, effective dose equivalent and ambient dose equivalent.
