Abstract

In this paper, we describe an approach to achieve fusion which employs a hybrid of elements from the traditional magnetic and inertial fusion concepts, called magneto-inertial fusion (MIF). The reduction in thermal-conduction losses in the hot spot of an imploding target that has trapped and amplified a pre-seeded magnetic flux leads to increased hot-spot temperatures at lower implosion velocities than required in conventional ICF. The use of this method is due to the use of a magnetic field and the reduction of the primary laser energy for compression fuel can be economically better in comparison with the previous two methods. In this work, the energy losses from the target including bremsstrahlung, cyclotron and electron thermal conduction on the ignition temperature for a simulated fuel pellet,(D/Tx/3Hey) in magneto-inertial fusion have been studied, then gain and temperature ignition of fusion system have been computed in this condition.
