Abstract

Some of the most important geometric parameters of screw compressors, which have high influences on their efficiency, are profile clearances. They also determine a compressor vibration level and a smoothness of rotor gearing. In order to minimize the profile clearances, it is necessary to have a proven procedure, which allows simulating the appearance of clearances in a driven engagement and determining their values by taking into account the basic technological accuracies as early as at the design stage of the rotor profile. This paper shows developed procedure, which allows calculating actual profile clearances and can be used for optimization of the screw compressor rotor profiles.
