Abstract

Natural porous rocks tend to have good fractal characteristics. The application of fractal theory to porous media has played a significant role in exploring the physical properties, and the determination of fractal dimension of porous media has been a hot topic in fractal theory research and application. In this paper, a new method for calculating the pore fractal dimension based on the Rieu and Sposito model assumption is proposed. The research has established the relationship between pore fractal dimension and aperture distribution in porous media, which can facilitate the efficient calculation of pore fractal dimension. The pore size distribution data of 12 core samples were collected to study the fractal dimension of porous media, and the calculation results were compared with the analytical expression results. The experimental results show that the pore fractal dimension can be calculated by using aperture distribution data.
