Abstract

An analysis is presented of the traditional method for calculating leaks through slot seals having smooth sealing surfaces, which is based on empirical relationships derived from the flow of liquid in turbines. The advantages and shortcomings of the method are evaluated, and also the confidence region for the calculated results.
