Abstract

The semiclassical Deutsch-Märk (DM) formalism was used to calculate absolute cross sections for the electron-impact ionization of excited argon atoms from threshold to 1000eV. Excited states of Ar where the outermost valence electron is excited to states with principal quantum numbers up to n=7 and orbital angular momentum quantum numbers up to l=2 have been considered. Systematic trends in the calculated cross section data are discussed.
