Abstract
Calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate (CPPD) deposition is a rare disease in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ)1,2 that may, by its unusual location and histology, be mistaken both clinicoradiologically and pathologically for a benign or malignant cartilaginous lesion.3,4 For a definite diagnosis of CPPD arthropathy, a demonstration of rhomboidal crystals on polarized light microscopy is required.
