Abstract

A simple method of hydroxyapatite (HA) coating deposition on Mg substrates at 37°C is proposed. It was established that variation of ionic composition of the initial solution leads to the deposition of coatings with various phase composition, i.e. DCPD, DCPD+HA, HA which decreased corrosion rate of Mg. The paper also discusses the crystallization of dicalcium phosphate dehydrate (DCPD) and HA coatings on Mg substrates obtained by dipping method under the permanent magnetic field (0.3T) in the neighborhood of the north and the south pole. A difference in particle morphology and crystal texture of precipitates in the north pole and the south pole proximity was observed. Lattice parameters of DCPD coatings obtained near opposite magnet poles were calculated using XRD results. It was found that the proximity to the south pole of magnet increases the crystallinity of calcium–phosphates. Increase of crystallite sizes in (020) and (040) plane was observed for DCPD in the presence of magnetic field.
