Abstract

Haliscomenobacter hydrossis DSM 1100 and an orange-coloured filamentous bacterium isolated from a high rate algal pond are dependent on calcium ions for growth. In addition, the effect of calcium on the growth of the orange-coloured filamentous bacterium is enhanced by bicarbonate ions. Bicarbonate alone does not affect growth.
