Abstract

Calcification in or around tendons is common and in clinical practice most often diagnosed when it occurs in the supraspinatus as one of the causes of the “painful arc syndrome”. The subject of peritendinitis calcarea (one of the many synonymous terms for this condition) has been fully reviewed by Hitchcock and Langton (1959). The interest of the case now reported lies in its presentation in an unusual anatomical site and its origin being probably the result of occupational trauma.
