Abstract
Short-term treatment of potato tuber (Solanum tuberosum L.) discs with CdCl2 induced biosynthesis of phytochelatin synthase (PCS). The intensity of this process depended on the concentration of cadmium ions (0.01 – 1 mmol·dm−3), time and cadmium resistance of tissues. In more resistant tissues, PCS activity was much higher and PCS was more resistant to oxidative stress. It seems that these tissues possessed more efficient cadmium detoxification system.
