Abstract

CACHET 2 is a European Commission funded consortium project that focuses on advancing palladium (Pd) membrane technology to increase the energy efficiency of natural gas- and coal-fired power plants fitted with pre- combustion CO2 capture. The project comprises of 8 partners, from industries, academia and institutions: BP (UK) Technip (France), Stiftelsen SINTEF (Norway), ECN (the Netherlands), the National Technical University of Athens (Greece), Politecnico di Milano (Italy), the Dalian Institute of Chemica Physics (China) and the Shenyang Institute of Metal Research (China). Benefiting from such collective efforts of a European-Chinese consortium, the projec has attained significant achievements in pure Pd membrane and seal scale-up, novel Pd-alloy membrane and H2S removal sorbent material development, membrane module modeling and design, and optimum process integration.
