Abstract

Abstract This article describes how the DSL revolution transformed the local telephone network into a broadband platform. It describes the reasons for upgrading telephone networks to broadband capability and highlights some of the more interesting transition strategies that telecommunications carriers (telcos) use to enter the cable TV market. Finally, the article also discusses other cable TV requirements such as a head-end and video content.
