Abstract

Cable shielding is one of the solutions to classical EMC to electromagnetic radiation/irradiation, crosstalk issues. In order to get the highest efficiency from the shielding, two steps are needed1.Characterize the shield according to the system electromagnetic requirements, electromagnetic environment, Mechanical constraints and budget.2.Implementation of the solutionI found that designing the best shield, but not well implemented, decreases the shielding efficiency by many dB' s The Contents of this paper are:Introduction of the two shielding mechanisms (capacitive, inductive)Characteristics of the electromagnetic shield, and their effect on irradiation issuesThe meaning of shield termination – Shown by CST simulationPig Tail and its effect on shielding efficiencyHow to use partial RLC CST Simulation to characterize pig tail electric values
