Abstract

Diabetic patients are at increased risk of coronary artery disease, and the choice of revascularization strategy can have important implications on long-term outcomes in these patients. Despite the remarkable results of the FREEDOM trial, controversy still exists regarding whether coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery is superior to percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in diabetic patients with multi-vessel coronary artery disease (CAD), particularly in the setting of drug-eluting stents (DES).
