Abstract

ABSTRACT Photoelectric spectrophotometry of the Ca is K emission line in the flare star BY Dra during 1975 shows no evidence for variability over the 3d8 rotation period. Apparently the K-line emission is produced uniformly over the stellar surface, and is not localized in plage regions. Concurrent variations in (B - V) and (b- y) confirm that the color changes seen over the photometric cycle are a continuum effect, rather than a result of varying emission line flux. Key words: BY Draconis variables - variable stars
