Abstract

Esophageal thermal injury (ETI) is a well-recognized complication of atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation. The EnsoETM temperature control device is a multi-lumen silicone tube inserted into the esophagus. An external heat exchanger is used to adjust the temperature of recirculated water to allow for esophageal warming or cooling. Previous studies have demonstrated that esophageal cooling with this device reduces ETI during radiofrequency AF ablation.
