Abstract

Recently, demand is increasing for digital high-quality single-lens reflex (SLR) camera, and needs are increasing for high-precision large aspheric glass lenses. The chromatic aberration is caused by changing the refractive index by the wavelength of light. In order to remove the chromatic aberration, it is effective to counteract the change of refractive index by combining the convex lens and concave lens. In this study, the magnetic field-assisted polishing setup using a permanent magnet was developed for uniform polishing of the concave large aspheric glass lenses. In this polishing experiment, the ground concave aspheric glass lenses were uniform polished and changes of its form and surface roughness were evaluated. From the experiments, the possibility of applying the method to the uniform polishing was clarified.
