Abstract

When constructing underground cavems such as tunnels and hydraulic power stations, these structures cannot be constructed without avoiding rock-mass discontinuities such as faults and joints. Therefore, it is important to estimate spatial location of rock-mass discontinuities for safety of construction and selection of tunnel support.Authors developed the visualization system of rock-mass discontinuities by three dimensional CAD, with the purpose of estimate a location of rock-mass discontinuities and unstable rock-mass blocks (key blocks). This visualization system comprises a digital card camera, a television monitor and a personal computer. As this system is very simple and interactive, It is easy to use in site.
