Abstract

This study focused on development of a spatial cell patteming device for functional analysis of cellular network. It is necessary to spatially control positions of cells and distances between cells for the analysis. Therefore, our group has been developing a microdevice with a pillar array for trapping cells on a substrate. The array of pillars was fabricated by dry film type of thick negative photoresist SU-8. The results shows dry film type of photoresist SU-8 has higher degree of sidewall straightness compared with liquid type of SU-8. Moreover, trapping test with polymer particles, which is typically 11μm in diameter, mixed in water revealed that the concentration of particles increased with an increase in the trapping ratio, resulting in the maximum trapping ratio of 75% was obtained.
