Abstract

The government’s Decree 13/2017 of 12 April approved the Protocol on Heavy Metals to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution. Notice 64/2017 of 29 June reveals that the Portuguese Republic deposited the instrument of approval for the protocol on 4 May. The protocol entered into force for Portugal on 2 August. The government’s Decree 23/2017 of 31 July approved the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships’ Ballast Water and Sediments. Notice 63/2017 of 29 June reveals that the Portuguese Republic deposited on 11 April the instrument of approval for the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from Their Utilization to the Convention on Biological Diversity. The protocol entered into force for Portugal on 10 July. The government’s Decree 40/2017 of 23 November approved the UN Environment Programme’s Minamata Convention on Mercury.
