Abstract

Best‐selling author of more than twenty novels and writer of short stories and nonfiction, Marie Corelli (1855–1924) has been in print continuously since 1886. Her novels have been filmed, staged, and translated into languages as diverse as Gujarati and Swedish. Her initial readership was drawn from all levels of society and included Oscar Wilde and Queen Victoria.
