Abstract

The C-glycossylxanthones, mangiferin and isomangigerin, have been detected in three species of Athyrium but appeared to be absent in 55 other species. The compounds appear to be of little value as taxonomic characters in the genus Athyrium or the subfamily Athyioideae.
