Abstract
We have previously reported our experience with bypass surgery for occlusive disease involving the posterior circulation and correlated our work with pathologic studies (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 12, 15) focusing on vascular disease involving the vertebrobasilar system. We have considered the rationale, indications, and results of this operation (14) and compared this procedure to that for carotid system disease (1, 7, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16). It is our purpose here to focus attention only on the technical aspects and complications of the operation.
