Recognizing the contribution art has had in the Mayo Clinic environment since the original Mayo Clinic Building was finished in 1914, Mayo Clinic Proceedings features some of the numerous works of art displayed throughout the buildings and grounds on Mayo Clinic campuses as interpreted by the author. Vibrant colors, trees filled with gold stars, a patchwork sky, and cartwheel-turning children surround the center attraction of the steamboat churning along in the water. Smoke billows from its chimney stack and it appears to have a large passenger load. It harkens to the history of the Mayo brothers and their infamous North Star riverboat cruises.5Godar B.
