Abstract

In digital optical computing, optical interconnections are the primitives of algorithm and architecture. In particular, perfect shuffle interconnections, butterfly interconnections, and crossover interconnections are widely studied; not only can they implement some simpler logic operations, they can also constitute more complex and more effective computing systems. Especially, the butterfly interconnection has many advantages over others in implementing digital systems. In this paper, we design an n-bit parallel full adder/subtractor.
