Abstract

As an important low-carbon transportation means, public transportation is effective in solving traffic problems such as traffic congestion, environmental pollution, and energy use. Bus stops are important for the bus system, which is the link between public transport vehicles and passenger. The location is important for travelers' choice of public transportation. So a reasonable choice of public transportation site location, the total cost of which is minimum, is a key issue for public transportation. A bus-stop location selection mathematic model was set up in this paper to minimize the total travel costs of public transportation system and passengers. The paper analyzes and quantifies the influence factors of bus line and bus stops in the model, at the same time, it establishes the bus passengers' travel costs measuring function. Grouping each alternative bus site by establishing Voronoi diagrams to select bus stops that satisfies the target based on the mathematic model. The results show that the bus-stop selecting model based on Voronoi diagram is a method that synthesizes graph theory and mathematics provided for traffic planning; the model not only considers the transit system's own cost, but also considers the public transportation passenger's travel cost, which can calculate the cost of bus passenger travel. Voronoi diagram is used in bus station location, which simplifies the process and determines the specific location of the bus station.
