Abstract

B usiness has provided vital and strategic leadership in education reform. Most of these efforts have focused on the school. One of the key points we are realizing toclay is that children learn a lot outside the classroom, and what they bring ir7to the classroom determines how well they succeed in school ancl, later, on the job. Today we are coming out of the dark ages-we are discovering much that we dicl not know before about how and when children learn. We are recognizing that 90 percent of a child’s time before the age of 18 is spent not at school, but at home.
