Abstract

By business modelling we refer to how different actors or people are using models and methods in order to understand and change business processes together with their information systems in companies and organisations. From earlier research it is a well-known fact that there are real communication gaps between top managers, business leaders and systems experts when developing organisations. In this context we can distinguish three levels of development work called: (1) strategy development, (2) process development and (3) systems development. The purpose of business modelling is to bridge the communication gap between actors and create a good co-ordination between the three development levels in organisations. A practical approach to accomplish this is to apply a tool box thinking for combining models and methods from different levels of development work. Development of multimedia products is a rather new form of change work in today's organisations. Multimedia development therefore interesting to study the role of digital media when developing future organisations. Business modelling constitute in this respect a foundation for multimedia development as it has always been working for other kinds of development work in organisations
