Abstract

Background Buschke-Lowenstein tumor (BLT) is a very rare sexually-transmitted disease associated with human papillomavirus (HPV) type 6 and 11, but rare cases of oncogenic HPV types including HPV 16 and HPV 18 were also reported. It is characterized by slow, locally invasive growth and clinically presents as exophytic masses with a cauliflower-like morphology. It usually occurs in uncircumcised men and location in sites other than the penis is very rare. It is a premalignant disorder with a low incidence of metastasis but with a considerable risk of malignant transformation to squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).
