Abstract

Random road undulations are given as the input to the finite element model of a bus and the response (acceleration and stress) of the bus is obtained analytically using random vibration concepts. The results obtained are compared with the experimental values reported earlier. For the analysis, a 180 degrees of freedom model of the bus has been used. The road has been treated as a stationary ergodic random process with 100% correlation between the left and right tracks. Appropriate space correlation has been assumed taken between the inputs to the front and rear wheels.
