Abstract
Among the spent fuel elements received yearly at the COGEMA La Hague reprocessing plant, an ever growing number benefit from burnup credit for transport or storage purposes. The burnup credit level is determined by the package or storage rack criticality assessment and approved by the French safety authorities. Depending on this level, the fuel irradiation is controlled either by qualitative or quantitative measuring techniques. A description of the documentary and operational system developed by COGEMA and NTL for fuel identification and burnup control is presented.
